Fabrics

A few days ago I posted a picture about the envelopes I received.... I guess you were all curious what was in there. Well here it is :-))))! What a lovely pile don't you think?

I send "thank you e-mails" to all the ladies who gave me their email address. Unfortunately there are a lot of ladies whose e-mail address I do not have, and some bounced back to me. So if you didn't receive a thank you e-mail, please accept this ~ THANK YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH!!!! ~ as meant for you personally :-))

I will make a quilt with these fabrics, a quilt which reminds me of this period in my life, and my friendships from all over the world. So I have the fabrics and.... now I have to search for an idea! Can you help me? I am open for your ideas :-)







Today I made a block for my Barbara Bucher quilt . It was fun to pick it up again. And the red fabric... is one of the fabrics I received. It is perfect for this block :-)

ps... if someone is missing a blue fabric in this pile .... I am using it already in my feathered star :-)

Feathered Star 2

My son is holding my feathered star for a picture. He thought I would take it without you can see him ;-) It isn't easy to snap a picture from an almost 17 years old son! As a mom I took this chance :-))

For the feathered star: I will make 9 stars. This size is too small for me. I will go for a bed size quilt and I will add a tiny bit brow and grey to give it more an antique look. So this quilt will be continued :-)

Living Simple...

I found some beautiful blogs on the internet about simply living. That appeals to me in this material world.

Our house is build in 1938. And it is still in original condition. By sample our kitchen , I LOVE the feel of it. Under the kitchen sink is still newspaper from the building year. On a piece we found the date: 3 febr.1938

We don't have a dishwasher --- I would miss the lovely and good conversations with my children or DH while dishwashing---

We don't have a microwave, not necessary....

We don't have a modern coffeemaker. I like my old fashion handmade coffee in the mornings.

I love my old stove. I use it everyday. When we bought this house the stove was already there . We even found the flyer with the date --- April 1955---- and price of the stove !!!

Yes my kitchen is my treasure :-)

I wasn't satisfied that the points of the feathered star ran into the pinwheels. So I changed the place of the pinwheel and the alternate block. Look what a little change can do. Now I am happy with the pinwheels as sashing :-)

Feathered Star

A little time ago I started with a feathered star quilt. I always love the block and I thought it is a nice idea for a workshop. Because I have only one day to teach, I decided to make the easiest feathered star.



My idea was to make 9 red feathered stars .... but how to set them???




I have 4 Feathered Stars right now. I played with some pinwheels. I think I am going to like it. What do you think ?

After a few intensive weeks I am ready to join blogging world again.

I never thought that it would be so difficult to loose a parent. For three weeks every day I drove to my parents house. They live about an hour away. If I was lucky it took me 1 hour. Here in the Netherlands the traffic is really awful we have a lot of traffic jams. And sometimes it took me two hours to get there, but I am happy that I have done it it.
I am happy that I was there for my dad. He passed away peaceful at home in his sleep, in his own bed.

After taking care of my mom it was time to take care of my own family again. My children missed me. And at this moment I am trying to pick up my life. The childern are having their summer break. That is lovely because I don't have to live' by the clock'.

I will thank my dear friend Bonnie! She was so sweet to arrange the squishies for me!

I was so surprised when I received the first envelops with fabrics, with all kind, sweet sympathize words! I thought that Bonnie knew more about it ;-) And since the first envelops I still receive them every day!

Ohh Girls, you made me smile and in tears with your gifts and emails. I think I can make a whole quilt with your fabrics and they will remind me too you all :-)
